Monday Funnies, Blog Awards, and 7 More Things About Me (if you're not sick of me yet...)
Hello Monday!
I am feelin' the LOVE.
What a great way to start the week, eh? Two blog awards from my fabulous blogging friends. I feel so honored, really I do. First off, we present the snazzy Stylish Blogger Award, presented to me by the equally snazzy and rockstar-in-disguise Caitlin Vincent of Musings of an Ordinary Mind. She does not have an ordinary mind, by the way. She just likes to make you believe that she does. (Ha! Right, Caitlin? You and your purple zebra-striped gloves. *wink*) Check out how stylish this thing is:

Miss Ashley is as sweet and pretty as the strawberries above. She's also a brainiac (Gates Millenium Scholar, whoa!), loves history, and has a boyfriend who looks like Aladdin! So check her blog out, if you haven't already done so.

My Seven Random Things:
#1 I once got my picture taken with figure skater Rachael Flatt. She is the 2010 U.S. National Figure Skating Champion, the 2008 World Junior Figure Skating Champion, and the 2008 and 2009 U.S. Ladies Silver Medalist. She performed at a local show and fell down twice! But, I still like her. =)

#2 I am allergic to cigarette smoke. It gives me hives and triggers my asthma. One time, we were checking in at a hotel and our room was supposed to be non-smoking. I walked in, smelled the faint trace of smoke, broke out in hives, and started coughing. We were immediately moved to a different, nicer room.
#3 I can sing and dance to The Wiggles, The Imagination Movers, and the Yo Gabba Gabba Gang. But I refuse to sing and dance to Barney--I have nothing against the guy. Really.

#4 I once took hula classes and got an A. Though if you were to ask me to dance the hula now, I will absolutely refuse, even if you were to pay me a million bucks. Okay, maybe I will. ;D
#5 I don't drink any alcohol. At all. I can't even stand drinking soda all the time. Except for maybe when I was pregnant with my first child, and because I couldn't have Coke, I desperately craved it. (No, I did not give in. I'm happy to say I channeled my soda craving to McDonald's double cheeseburgers. Not good for the thighs, I know, or my cholesterol, but safer for baby.)
#6 I wanted to be STORM of the X-Men comics when I was a kid.

#7 I used to watch anime shows. One of my favorites is Naruto, a quirky, orphaned Ninja boy who's a sort of an outcast in his village because of a demon, the Nine-tailed Fox, sealed inside him. Despite his blunders and comical antics, he has a big heart and will do anything to help his friends, even at the cost of his own life. (I don't watch it anymore, btw. Too busy.)

I have insomnia and was here first to get my award, before anyone, so I am going to EAT IT ALL BY MYSELF! The early bird gets the whole strawberry shortcake.

Hey, Cheri! Thanks so much for the nomination! I don't know that I'll have time to write a new blog for this, though. So please accept my absolute gratitude! That's freakin' awesome of you! BTW- We share so much in common! I am also allergic to cigarette smoke (have never and will never try it) and I get really sick from it. As it turns out, I'm allergic to dust, too. Huh. I also avoid alcohol (except on rare occasions) and soda. They mess with my head and I need it to be focused!! LOL!
My girlfriend has a 2 year old, so I just recently discovered Yo Gabba Gabba. The surprising thing to me is...the songs are actually pretty good. Some of them sound like they are performed by real musical artists, and they almost always have a hook that stays in your head, for better or worse! :-)

Fruit Salad . . . yummy, yummy! Sorry, couldn't resist! Both of my kids went through the "Wiggles" stage--especially my daughter. I still have a stack of about 15 VHS tapes (what the heck am I going to do with those?) and about 5 DVD's! CRAZY!
Anywho, thank you for my award :o) I will display it with pride :o)
@Jenny: That was you in my kitchen at 4 a.m.? LOL! More like the insomniac pony gets the shortcake. ;)
@Carissa: Yay! I'm not strange XD When I was in Japan, we took a cab in Tokyo, and the whole car just reeked of cigarette smoke. I thought I was gonna die. Good thing it was only a short ride.
@Scott: "There's a party in my tummy, so yummy, so yummy." I think that song is embedded in my brain like shrapnel. Can't. Get. It. Out. Soon it'll be in your head too. Haha! Good luck!
@Huntress: Hmm, check, huh. You don't mind if it's CRAPPY hula dancing, do you? Hehe. ;D
@Angela: Ah, the days of Wiggles--colorful Australian guys who don't mind wiggling their hips. XD I went through the phase with my firstborn, and then 5 years later, went through the phase again with my second. The songs are really catchy. I also have their DVDs. :D

Funny thing, I use to want to be a hybrid mutant like Jean Grey & I still love Naruto! I will catch it when I can but I don't drop everything to watch it anymore! Who knew I would come across another sci-fi fan! Yay us!

Thank you so much, Cherie! I must disagree with you though, about my ordinary-mindedness (purple-zebra-stripes-gloves nonetheless) ;) I'm not some extraordinary person - I'm not a bestselling author or some famous, fabulously talented person; I'm not a rocket scientist or someone with an IQ out in the stratosphere someplace. I'm really a very normal girl. Unique, yes, but still ordinary. And I like that - because what I love best is when ordinary people do extraordinary things or think extraordinary thoughts :)
On #4...I think you should post a video of you doing your A-class hula dance when you sign a book deal ;)
